BarkerBlue is about helping our clients make a big impact in the marketplace while making as little a mark on the environment as possible. No other printer beats us in our commitment to sustainability.

80% of our power at BarkerBlue is provided by the solar panels on our roof.

SOLAR PANELS

Our headquarters and primary production facility utilize a 155 kW DC rated solar array, consisting of 654 Sanyo 200HIT hybrid solar modules. The system can generate more than 272,000-kilowatt hours each year of clean, renewable power, which provides 80-85% of the capability needed for our energy requirements.

DIGITAL EFFICIENCY

Our use of digital printing cuts down on the use of chemicals and material waste. The ability to print only as much as you need, when you need it, saves tons of paper – and trees.

RECYCLING

With the exception of a few exotic stocks not available in a recycled format, all paper used for reproduction has at least 30% PCC. BarkerBlue recycles all scrap paper generated in the production process, as well as all retired electronic equipment.

REDUCED CONSUMPTION

Our facilities utilize motion-sensor lighting, which ensures lights are switched off when rooms are not in use. We have also installed low-voltage fluorescent bulbs throughout our facilities, as well as new low-flow toilets and faucet aerators to conserve water.

LATEX INK

Wherever possible, we use HP latex ink. It’s cleaner, more durable and has less environmental impact than conventional inks.

BarkerBlue has been certified as a Green Business by San Mateo County

Green Business Award

BarkerBlue received the 2008 San Mateo Chamber of Commerce Green Business Award for its efforts to fight climate change.

Environmental Leadership Award

BarkerBlue received The Environmental Leadership Award from California State Assemblyman Jerry Hill. The award recognizes companies in the California 19th Congressional District that demonstrate their advancement of green practices in their business, as well as good corporate citizenship. BarkerBlue is the only Bay Area reprographic company to have received this award.
